Soul Food: Made Fresh Daily!
Have you checked out the classic soul/funk/blues band Soul Food lately? If you haven't sampled our delectable flavor of music, reach out and take a big bite. You'll be pleasantly surprised. There's lots of fresh, tasty music by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Joss Stone and Susan Tedeschi inside. We play a lot of those great hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s, along with music by exciting new soul/R&B artists that groove along nicely with the old classics. Just ask anyone who's seen us at Agate Ridge, the Clam or G Street recently.
If you've followed Soul Food during the past five years, you'll also notice that the line-up has changed a bit. Lori fronts the band, and girl does she bring it! With pipes like hers, and a stylistic range that ventures far beyond any other local diva, Lori will keep you at the edge of your seat when you're not up on your feet dancing.
Behind Lori is a great band who worships the groove. Southern Oregon guitar hero Joe Diehl has returned with his six-string wizardry, and bringing a few songs of his own to the mix. Joe is one of those rare instrumentalists who can find the perfect balance between funky, soulful rhythm and playful solos.
We'll often invite some of the best musicians in the region to sit in, too, so every night the music tastes just a little different.
Holding down the back line these days is drummer Kevin McKern, along with longtime local boogieman and bassist, Mr. Mike Gantenbein.
The real frosting on the cake is our horn section: Gordon Greenley, saxes, and Jim King, trumpets and flugelhorn. These members of the Rock Hard Horns make us a real soul band, and add the extra spice to jazz up your evening.
